Riverton Dome East (Wind River Basin - Fremont County, Wyoming)

The Riverton Dome East (RDE) field is located on the Wind River Indian Reservation and was purchased as part of the original Peak Energy company formed in 2002.  This field was first discovered by Conoco in the early 60's and has produced more the 70 BCFE from three sections of land.

Historic production has come from a diverse group of formations including the Permian Phosphoric, the Jurassic Nugget, the Cretaceous Dakota, Muddy, Frontier, Lance and Tertiary aged Fort Union Sands.  All of these productive intervals were set up by a structural offshoot (called Riverton Dome East) to a major northward plunging anticline that was initially identified through older 2D seismic lines.

In 2004, Peak participated in a modern 3D seismic shoot that covered all of these leases plus additional data to the north and west on the Indian Butte tribal option block which was under lease to Encana.  Based on that data, Peak began multiple drilling programs testing for additional potential, primarily in the Fort Union, Lance and Mesa Verde formations both on RDE leases and through a participation agreement with Encana on the Indian Butte option block to the north.

During these drilling programs, a new productive field in the Cody formation was discovered on RDE and is now producing the majority of gas from this lease (~3 MMCFD).  Peak has drilled five confirmation wells to delineate the edges of this field and booked the remaining 80 acre locations as PUD reserves.

As of June 2009, Peak is looking into additional potential from the Mesa Verde coals which are being produced by Devon on the Riverton Dome structure, just to the west of RDE.
