Bakken Field (Williston Basin - Dunn, McKenzie, Mountrail Counties, North Dakota)

Peak currently has approximately 54,000 net acres leased in the heart of the Devonian aged Middle Bakken and Three Forks horizontal oil play in North Dakota.  Peak began acquiring this acreage position, located primarily on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, in the early Fall of 2007.

In 2008, Peak began the first ever horizontal Bakken drilling program on the reservation, and as of December, 2009 has drilled and completed twelve successful wells (ten middle Bakken and two lower Three Forks formations).

Peak employed a variety of both drilling and completion techniques on this first series of wells, all of which are currently producing, in order to determine which methodologies are most effective in this particular area.  The very encouraging results from this initial program have essentially proven up productive potential of both the Middle Bakken and Three Forks formations over a 12 to 14 township area which is now being actively drilled by several other operators.  This unique area is well situated just south of the Parshall and Sanish fields to the north and the Bailey field to the south with Peak (and many others) planning for signficant additional development throughout the entire reservation.
